It just is. Had some thoughts as I watched a youtube video of the 2014 Ultimate Adventure Off Road trip. They saw a lot of corn. And corn is bad. Corn ethanol is bad for internal combustion engines, corn is terrible food for livestock, processed corn products like vegetable oil and corn syrup are terrible foods for humans. Corn requires a lot of chemical fertilizers.
Animals fed on corn produce poorer quality milk and meat than their grass fed counterparts. Corn diets blow them up with omega 6 fats instead of omega 3s.
Why so much corn? It’s the federal government sticking their noses in with subsidies to farmers to grow corn thereby making animals and people less healthy because of so many corn byproducts and on overabundance of its awfulness. Engines don’t like ethanol fuel (especially classics); it eats away at rubber seals and leaves a clogging residue and arguably is worse for fuel economy, ethanol gasoline has only a few months of shelf life while real gasoline can last virtually forever.
Now, I’m not bashing a good organic corn meal for making your own stuff or useful corn products for athletic types like dextrose and maltodextrin, or locally grown sweet corn that you can roast or boil, but the majority of corn usage is the wrong usage.
Go away feds, corn is bad.
