Made an appointment with a new Primary Care Physician and that got me thinking. Is Fitness Trainer and the Personal Trainer a form of medicine? I think so.
You’ve got surgeons and other MD’s, chiropractors, physical therapists, and dentists. Granted the above requires a lot more schooling.
Physical Training helps keep cholesterol and blood pressure under control. It helps with insulin sensitivity. It reduces stress. It makes you stronger. All of which relate to a host of preventable medical conditions.
I think, before jumping on the pill band wagon, give fitness training a chance. A few sessions with a trainer every week or every month and a regular gym membership might negate the need to take any pills. It might even be less expensive.
Tired going up a set of stairs? Trouble sleeping because you’re overweight? Stressed at work? Fitness can alleviate all of that.
Even the eldest doctor’s in human history recommended physical training. Ahem, Hippocrates. The big one. The Oath.

I think doctors should prescribe fitness training as much as they prescribe drugs, dietary changes, and physical therapy. If you’re doctor wants you to lose weight, change your diet, start exercising, and/or take a bunch of pills. Find yourself a good trainer, see how they can help you live and feel better.
